How do you apply liquid glass epoxy resin on almost any surface?

When you use our liquid glass epoxy resin solution, you can give just about any surface a shiny and aesthetically pleasing finish. Just follow these basic steps to enhance an object’s area with our advanced glass cast resin.

To start the application, you must first measure out Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) in two separate containers. The ratio will depend on the specific resin, so make sure to check the directions.

Then, you can start adding pigments or other additives such as inks in the container with Part A—ensuring that there is one even tone all throughout after mixing.

Incorporate Parts A and B, then mix together for three minutes or until clear throughout; and then when you are ready, you can mix them together in a larger container.

We recommend that you keep Part A and Part B separate from each other at first as once the two solutions interact with each other, the hardening or curing process begins.

When both parts are fully incorporated together to form one homogeneous mixture, you can now pour it on whatever surface you choose and admire the finished product once everything has been cured.

However, you should be aware of these crucial points before you begin:

    • Have isopropyl alcohol, baby wipes, and other cleaning materials ready in case the resin spills on other places.
    • Make sure to lightly sand non-porous surfaces as liquid glass epoxy resin sticks better to smooth and clean surfaces.
    • The ideal room temperature when handling resin is 22 to 25 degrees Celsius.
    • Environmental humidity may cause the finished result to be unfavorable.

How much liquid glass epoxy do I need?

Whether you are using the resin on glass or timber, we recommend using our free JR Art Resin Calculator so you can determine how much epoxy you will need for your project. This way, you can save both time and money as you don’t have to worry about complex calculations or overbuying liquid glass epoxy.

You can even choose which measurement reading you prefer as this intuitive tool tells you the approximate amount of glass finish epoxy you need in metric liters or imperial US fluid ounces.

If the surface you are covering is circular, all you have to do is input the diameter size through standard inches or centimeters. On the other hand, if the surface is square or rectangular, do the same but with the length and width as opposed to diameter.

Our JR Art Resin Calculator is that easy to use. When it comes to the best resin for pouring, you can truly count on us to give you an option that will fit your specific needs.

How long does it take for liquid glass epoxy to cure?

There are a number of factors that affect the time it takes to cure liquid glass epoxy. Here are some common variables that may cause longer curing times:

    • Lack of heat. If the room is below the suggested temperature of 22 to 25 degrees Celsius, then overall curing would take longer.
    • Viscosity type. Curing times could depend on the type of resin you invested in, whether that be high viscosity or low viscosity resin. Normally, the thicker the layer or the deeper the pour, the quicker it would cure. Heat is generated during the curing process, as a chemical reaction.
    • Humidity. The increased levels of water vapor and moisture in the environment would not only affect the time it takes to cure resin, but could cause inconsistent results as well.

However, regardless of all these factors, it would usually take at least seven days for a full cure. The longer it is left to cure before use, the more durable the surface will become.
